What is a a paternal uncles duty to his neice who father has pssed away and have brothers.
Is he responsible for her needs?
And if he does not fulfil his responsibily to his neice does he have any rights over her, example, who she may marry?
It is the moral and religious responsibility of a paternal uncle to look after his orphan nieces and nephews, if they are poor and needy and there is no other close relative to take care of them. He will be taken to account on the Day of Qiyyamah, if he does not fulfill his responsibility towards his orphan needy nieces and nephews.
As regard to Nikaah, paternal uncle will have right to object to the Nikaah of his orphan adult niece who has no other close relative grandfather, brother, step-brother, nephew and so on for instance, only when she wants to get married to someone who is not of her match or she agrees to the amount of Mehr-dowry less than that of her family members. But if there is any other close relative then the uncle has no right concerning the Nikaah of his orphan niece.
