Salaamu Alaikum shaikh could you briefly explain the concept of ”kufr duna kufr” wich is widespread abused by so called ”government salafis these days”
Kufr sometimes used metaphorically for Ma’asee-sins and ungratefulness as it has been used in a Hadith for women because of being ungrateful to their husbands.
There are two types of Kufr; Kufr that leads to apostasy and the Kufr that does not lead to. In other words one is convictional Kufr and the other is practical one. One who rejects what Allaah has revealed is a Kafir whereas one who accepts what Allaah has revealed but does not comply with is a Fasiq and a sinner. Missing Salaah for instance, out of laziness is an act of Kufr while believing missing Salaah permissible is Kufr.
Imam Bukharee mentions these types of Kurf in the commentary of the Aayah No. 44 of Suratul-Maaidah to denounce the view of Mu’tazilah and their likes who regard a Muslim as Kafir because of committing major sins while Ahlussunnah Wal-Jama’ah consider such a person as Fasiq and sinner.
