Asalamu Alaikum Shaikh , i have a question regarding the shuyookh of saudi arabia , in our city its easier to get books authored by shuyookh like bin uthaymeen, bin baaz, moqbil, albani etc , can we take ilm from these people especially related to Aqeedah.Fiqh? ,
wa alaykumus salaam warahmatullaah
Regarding the fiqh books authored by the Saudi ulema normally comprises of masaail according to the hanbali Fiqh which most saudis claim to follow. If any individual is following the Hanbali mathhab then it will appropriate for him to read the Saudi authored fiqh books. Also if one has Scholarly knowledge then one will be encouraged to read for reference sake.
As for Aqeedah , it is a known fact that a certain amount of ghuloo (over-emphasis) in certain issues which is not acceptable in deen is found in their works. If one knows and understands those issues then it will not be a problem to read their books. The greatest weakness i found amongst the “Saudi” scholars is their tendencies to declare takfir on people without varifying issues and their view that there is no other from the ahlus sunnah except those who adhere to their creed. All others are regarded as deviant and astray. May ALLAH Guide us all to that which brings HIS pleasure and saves us from HIS wrath.
